Volunteer

A few venues a month is a real contribution

Somebody within ten miles of you needs the exact thing you’re already good at. You don’t need a plan, a title, or a whole Saturday. You need one hour and a place to put it.

We don’t run these and we don’t take a cut. These are other people’s organizations, doing the work already. Every link goes straight to them.

Start herePlaces that always need hands

Food

Food banks and church pantries sort, pack and deliver every week, and the shift is usually two hours with no experience needed. Search your own county’s food bank. It will be the first result and it will have a volunteer page.

Beach and waterway cleanups

Run constantly along this coast, usually a Saturday morning, always short-handed, and the kids can come. Check your city’s parks-and-rec calendar.

Libraries and schools

Reading buddies, homework help, one afternoon a week. Ask at the desk; they will not turn you away.

Animal rescue

Dog walking, fostering, transport runs. Transport especially, because it is a couple of hours in your own car and almost nobody signs up for it.

We keep this page short on purpose. A list of forty links nobody clicks helps nobody; four you might actually do is worth more.

Know one worth adding?Tell us

If a local group near you does real work and needs people, send it over and we’ll look at it the same way we look at an event, which means against their own page, before it goes up.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.1 Peter 4:10 · ESV

One family reads every venue’s own page before a listing ships, and no reader is ever charged for any of it. If this guide has earned a place in your weekend, the Support page lists the ways to help, and most of them cost nothing.
