The museum tells the story of Gulf shipping, shrimping and the port of Mobile through ship models, artifacts and hands on exhibits. Every ticket on the current admission chart, adult, youth, senior, military and student alike, runs a flat $5, and children under five get in free. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, with the last entry at 3 PM ahead of a 4 PM close. A new permanent exhibit on Jimmy Buffett's Gulf Coast roots opens here on September 12, 2026.
