The city rents single and tandem kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and beach cruiser bikes from a shop at Bayview Park, with a ramp straight onto Bayou Texar. Staff give a tutorial to first-timers and suggest routes by how long you rent. Renters must be 18 or older, and minors go with a parent.

City rates by the hour: single kayak or stand-up paddleboard $15, tandem or touring kayak $20, beach cruiser bike $10. Half day is $40 single, $50 tandem; full day $55 single, $60 tandem. A refundable deposit is required. Life jackets are provided. The total is one tandem and one single for an hour.
Hours change in November: Mon-Sat 9 AM-5 PM, Sun 11 AM-5 PM, and rentals end at 3:30 PM.
A refundable deposit is held until the gear comes back in good repair.
