Park rangers open a hands-on Civil War trunk program at Fort Pickens every Thursday afternoon through October 29. The program itself is free, but the National Park Service's own fee page says the normal Gulf Islands National Seashore entrance fee or a qualifying park pass still applies to get into the park.
Before you go
- Drive into Fort Pickens, 1400 Fort Pickens Rd., Pensacola Beach.
- Pay the normal park entrance fee or show a qualifying park pass at the gate.
- Join the ranger-led Civil War trunk program, Thursdays 2:00 to 4:00 PM through October 29.
