The Munson Heritage Festival is a nonprofit weekend at Krul Recreation Area that shows how northern Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties lived, with demonstrations of wood carving, basket weaving and Civil War reenactment. It suits families who like to watch old crafts done by hand, and children can stand close enough to see how it works. Krul Recreation Area is a forested state park with unreliable cell service, so plan the route before leaving Milton.
Before you go
- Drive to Krul Recreation Area at 11007 Krul Lake Rd, north of Milton.
- Pay the entry at the gate, $10 per car, in cash or by check.
- Arrive between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on either day.
- Leave pets at home, since only service animals are allowed in the park.
- Download directions ahead of time because cell service in the forest can drop.
What we checked, and when
Read off the venue's own page on 2026-09-29.
The festival's own website lists entry at $10 per car, with no separate price for adults or children. A per-car charge does not divide into a price per person, so the card shows no per-person total. Bring cash or a check, because the site says there is no ATM on the grounds.
Not confirmed: The price. The venue publishes none, so neither do we.
Not confirmed: A military rate. We searched and the venue publishes none. That is not the same as there being none, so it is worth asking.
The festival's website says there is no ATM on site, so bring cash or a check.
Pets are not allowed, and bicycling and swimming are closed during the festival.
Cell service may not work in the forest.
