Gulf Coast Explorers runs a morning field programme at Fort Morgan, the masonry fort that guarded the mouth of Mobile Bay. It took the brunt of the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864. The programme covers the fort's role in coastal defence and works through the cannons and the tunnels. It is built for grades 3 to 12, and a parent or responsible adult has to come along. The operator books by request rather than selling seats, so this one starts with an email.
