Take a Kid Fishing Day: Okaloosa Island Pier

Okaloosa Island Pier

from $2FamilyKidsSportsDay-tripverified 8/8

Kids twelve and under fish free for the whole day, the first hundred get a rod to keep, and the pier lends tackle to anyone who needs it. Bait is donated. This is the fourth year running, with vendors, games, and food along the deck.

Before you go

  • Get there early. The first 100 kids get a rod to keep
  • Bring your own adult rod if you have one; renting is $30
  • Adults still pay $8 to fish and $2 to walk out
  • Bait is provided; tackle is lent first-come

What we checked, and when

Read off the venue's own page on 2026-08-08.

The pier's own pricing page lists an adult fishing pass at $8.00, an observers/walking pass at $2.00, and a rod rental at $30.00, all per person, and Okaloosa County's own parks page points at that operator as the authority on fees. Kids fishing free is the event's own promise. Two adults fishing is $16; two adults just walking the pier with a kid is $4. The $30 rod rental is per rod and is the one that will surprise you. Bring your own if you have one.

Not confirmed: A military rate. We searched and the venue publishes none. That is not the same as there being none, so it is worth asking.

⚠️ THE EVENT'S OWN TERMS ARE NOT ON A FIRST-PARTY PAGE. The date, the free-for-kids promise and the hundred rods come from the organisers' announcements; the pier's standard fees above are first-party and confirmed. Confirm the event before you drive an hour.

Adults are not free. Only kids 12 and under are.

Where this came from

  1. The Island Pier, own pricing page: "Adult Fishing Pass $8.00", "Fishing Rod Rental $30.00", "Observers/Walking Pass $2.00"
  2. Okaloosa County: own pier page naming the leaseholder as the fee authority
